DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:
  • Responsible for the assessing all freight based on information provided by the client in order to provide an accurate quote for shipping
  • Responsible for creating all relevant documentation for freight to cross the international border to and from Canada, including hired carriers and company vehicles
  • Responsible to prepare applicable manifests through Border Connect system
  • Provide company drivers with information relevant to pick ups and deliveries on both sides of the border, including Bill of Laden
  • Responsible to create work orders outlining applicable fees to forward to Billing for action
  • Expected to have a functional understanding of all aspects of the business including but not limited to daily and weekly updates, customer service and office admin functions
  • Work in a safe manner as per the requirements of the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • All other duties as assigned

Work to be performed:

Responsibility Involved:

A rebar production company is seeking hardworking welders to join their team. This opportunity begins as a 2–3 week contract, with the potential for extension based on business needs.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Select appropriate quantity, length and gauge of rebar as required for structure being assembled.
  • Utilize measuring instruments – tape measure, straight edge, laser sight, jig as required to properly locate and space rebar.
  • Weld rebar. Tack welding. Responsible to reload weld wire and change and maintain weld tips to ensure weld quality is consistent.
  • Operate overhead crane once properly certified in crane use.

The Commercial Forklift Operator/Labourer is responsible for the safe and efficient offloading, staging, and reloading of commercial freight designated for inspection. This role operates within a federally secured environment and requires strict adherence to security protocols, safety standards, and regulatory procedures. In addition to material handling duties, the position is responsible for securing payment from carriers and accurately processing transactions related to inspection services.

Key Responsibilities

Material Handling & Inspection Support
  • Safely offload commercial trucks designated inspection using forklifts and other material-handling equipment.
  • Stage, position, and secure freight for inspection in accordance with facility procedures.
  • Reload inspected freight onto commercial trailer once clearance is received.
  • Verify shipment details against documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Maintain the integrity and condition of freight throughout the inspection and handling process.
  • Take Pictures of the offload every 6 skids

Security & Compliance
  • Operate in full compliance with regulations, federal security requirements, and facility access controls.
  • Follow all site-specific security protocols, including restricted area procedures and chain-of-custody requirements.
  • Report any discrepancies, damages, or security concerns immediately to supervision. As well as filling out any damage reports
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism when interacting with inspectors, carriers, and facility staff.

Payment Processing & Administrative Duties
  • Secure pre-payment Authorizations from carriers for inspection and handling services as required.
  • Accurately process payments using approved systems (POS, offload reports).
  • Issue receipts and ensure all transactions are properly documented.
  • Reconcile daily transactions and submit required reports in accordance with company procedures.

Safety & Equipment Maintenance
  • Conduct pre-shift inspections of forklifts and report mechanical issues promptly.
  • Operate forklifts safely in confined and high-security environments.
  • Adhere to all occupational health and safety policies, including PPE requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area.

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Valid forklift certification (counterbalance required; additional certifications an asset).
  • Minimum [1] years of experience operating forklifts in a commercial or industrial environment.
  • Experience working in secured, bonded, or regulated facilities is a strong asset.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain federal security clearance (mandatory).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow strict procedures.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, or holidays as required.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to operate forklifts in a safe manner
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull loads as required by the role.
  • Comfortable working in a high-security environment.

Work Environment
  • Federally secured inspection facility.

When not actively offloading or reloading freight, the employee must remain on site at the designated desk area to ensure they are easily accessible to carriers and available when work is required.

During these waiting periods, the employee may use the time for quiet personal activities such as reading, drawing, or using a personal tablet, as long as they remain on site, attentive, and able to respond immediately when needed
