currently recruiting an experienced Electrical Site Superintendent with civil construction knowledge for permanent, full-time employment who shares our mission and principles.  Their overall responsibilities will be to manage construction projects according to strict deadlines and within budget; embracing the role of being the company’s key on-site representative.   These construction projects will vary in scope but will often deal with cogeneration unit installation.  This individual will work closely with the Project Management team. 

The role of Site Superintendent assumes a wide range of responsibilities.  This individual will be involved in all aspects of a project.  Please note this role has the potential to, at times, require significant travel for projects out of town.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Project Coordination

  • Understanding the complete scope of work involved in a project, this includes having a thorough understanding of project drawings and specifications
  • Doing a thorough review of all potential hazards associated with a project and having a plan in place to control said hazards
  • Participating in all project related meetings
  • Conduct weekly meetings with all subcontractors, employees and other stakeholders
  • Communicate on an ongoing basis with the Project Manager, providing information in a proactive manner wherever possible
  • Review shop drawings
  • Maintain all project related paperwork and files in an organized manner
  • Ensure all areas of the project are kept clean and organized

 

Project Operations & Relationship Management

  • Co-ordinate and manage subcontractors through effective communication and scheduling
  • Manage all site personnel to ensure best results; provide on-site feedback and disciplinary action as required
  • Manage all aspects of health and safety and address any concerns in an immediate manner; ensure the OHSA and Construction Regulations serve as minimum requirements for project operations
  • Report all safety related incidents in an immediate manner
  • Communicate any project related concerns to the Project Manager in a time sensitive manner
  • Resolve project deficiencies in a manner which is suitable to the client
  • Keep a daily log within the ‘Supervisor Log Book’ of all project activities
  • Maintain a professional relationship with employees, subcontractors and vendors
  • Ensure site personnel are acting in a professional manner
  • Establish and nurture a relationship with owners, client representatives and consultants
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to personnel; develop self and others

 

Risk Management

  • Have an appropriate system in place for the receiving, tracking and inspection of purchases and materials, keeping daily records of labour, equipment, concrete, aggregates, rentals, and subcontracts
  • Assist with cost control; managing the project to ensure it remains within budget
  • Ensure thorough and complete records are maintained at all times

Qualifications

  • Licensed electrician
  • 10+ years of successful Site Superintendent/Foreman experience within the construction industry
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Strong technical background and aptitude
