Purpose:

Independently set-up, program and operate various CNC machinery to finish machine forgings to their final required specifications

Responsibilities:

Set-up, program and operate CNC Mill/Turns, Lathes and Mills
  • Machine to exacting requirements with normal tolerances of ± 0.0005”
  • Take immediate and appropriate action whenever a deviation or non-conformance is identified
  • Rigorously monitor all equipment and tooling to ensure optimal performance
  • Calibrate tools and tool offsets
  • Machine product to specified requirements as defined within production shop orders, drawings 
  • Interpret blueprints
  • Maintain equipment in safe and productive condition, including but not limited to, regular routine lubrication, cleaning, maintaining coolant levels
  • Practice excellent general housekeeping, including but not limited to, his/her work area, chip removal, floor areas, benches, storage areas to ensure a safe work environment
  • Shovel chips generated by machinery, grind parts and assist and support fellow employees in their duties, when/as required
  • Maintain measuring instruments in proper working condition by regular cleaning and storing instruments in a safe location both during use and after completion of use
  • Comply with company policies and procedures
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required and appointed by management
  • Work various shifts as required

 Experience/Skills/Education:

A Certificate of Qualification is an asset
  • High school diploma required
  • Proficiency interpreting complex manufacturing drawings with GDT specifications
  • Must possess a positive attitude and attention to detail
  • Experience with touch-probe an asset
  • Previous experience with the set up and operation of CNC equipment is required
  • A good understanding of machining principles is essential
  • Good knowledge of cutting tools as well as speeds and feeds are essential
  • Simple trigonometry calculations required
  • Good command of the English language both written and verbal
  • Demonstrated communication, problem solving, interpersonal and analytical skills
