AZ Driver/Rebar Labourer
Job Description
We are seeking a versatile, safety-conscious individual to join our client in Bowmanville's Rebar operations in a dual-role capacity. This position primarily involves AZ driving responsibilities, with opportunities to assist in production operator duties when needed. The ideal candidate has experience operating manual-transmission straight and semi trucks on a flatbed, working in industrial or manufacturing environments, and is physically capable of handling heavy materials while maintaining a commitment to workplace safety.
Key Responsibilities:
AZ Driver Duties (Primary):
- Operate manual-transmission straight and semi trucks on a flatbed to transport rebar and structural steel locally, regionally, and for short-haul deliveries.
- Haul, secure, and tarp loads to ensure cargo safety and stability.
- Inspect vehicles before and after trips, including tires, lights, brakes, and load securement.
- Maintain accurate driver logs, inspection reports, and incident reports.
- Provide excellent customer service during deliveries and pick-ups.
Production Operator Duties (As Needed):
- Operate equipment for cutting, bending, and shaping rebar according to job specifications.
- Perform production duties to support operations and maintain safety standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid AZ License with Air Brake (Z) endorsement required; manual-transmission experience essential.
- Forklift and overhead crane experience/certification is an asset.
- Experience in manufacturing, construction, or industrial environments preferred.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, bar lists, and work orders.
- Physically capable of lifting heavy materials and standing for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail, quality, and safety.
- Team-oriented with good communication and time management skills.
Working Conditions:
- Industrial manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and heavy materials.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required and provided.
- May require overtime or shift flexibility to meet production and delivery demands.
Hours & Compensation:
- Day shifts: Monday to Friday
- Pay Rate: To be determined
