Accounts Receivable Specialist
Job Description
Do you have a knack for numbers, strong attention to detail, and a passion for keeping financial operations running smoothly? We are looking for an Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our Billing Department!
This is a great opportunity for a highly organized and driven individual with experience in both accounts receivable and payable processes. You'll play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, working with leadership to ensure billing runs efficiently, and keeping our operations on track.
What You'll Do:
- Oversee daily accounts receivable and payable processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Collaborate with the Office/Warehouse Manager, General Manager, and President to verify and approve accounts
- Enter and track payment data in SAGE for easy reference and reporting
- Prepare and submit month-end financial reports using spreadsheets and manifests, sorted by client
- Verify daily exchange rates and process deposits for both CAD and USD
- Input deposit details into receivables software with accuracy
- Notify internal teams of advance postage payments to ensure job flow and client communication
- Monitor receivables, follow up on outstanding accounts, and support collections as needed
- Coordinate with the General Manager to track electronic payments and wires
- Ensure full compliance with the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act and applicable regulations
- Take on additional duties as needed within a flexible and collaborative office environment
What you bring:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a relevant financial/accounting role
- Solid understanding of accounts receivable/payable processes
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking skills
- Ability to work independently, stay proactive, and manage deadlines
- Professional communication skills and a customer-focused mindset
- Confidence working in a small office setting with a tight-knit team
- Demonstrated leadership potential and a willingness to take initiative
- Flexibility to cross-train and support multiple business functions
Education:
- Relevant post-secondary education or equivalent work experience in accounting/finance
Wage: $22 per hour
Schedule: Monday - Friday Days
