Part-Time Clerical/Administrative Assistant (Temp-to-Perm) – Logistics Department Start-Up

Stevensville
Schedule
Part-time: 4 hours/day, Monday–Friday (20 hours/week)
Temp-to-perm: Successful hire may transition to full-time after contract period
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Clerical/Administrative Assistant to support the start-up of a new Logistics Department. This role is ideal for someone who is organized, confident with office systems, and comfortable learning new processes. You will work closely with internal team members to help build and support day-to-day administrative functions as the department grows.
This position begins part-time (20 hours/week) and may lead to full-time hours and permanent employment for the right candidate. Additional hours may be offered through cross-training in Accounting and our Training/Compliance division (government forms and documentation).
Key Responsibilities
Logistics Admin Support
- Provide administrative support to help launch and organize a new logistics function
- Prepare and format documents, forms, logs, and spreadsheets
- Support shipping/receiving paperwork and general coordination as required
- Maintain accurate files (digital and paper) and support process organization
General Clerical / Office Duties
- Data entry, filing, scanning, emailing, and document control
- Answer and direct calls/emails professionally (if required)
- Support scheduling, tracking, and follow-ups with internal stakeholders
Cross-Training Opportunities (to support full-time transition)
- Accounting support: basic to intermediate administrative accounting tasks, with training toward journal entries and higher-level accounting responsibilities for the right candidate
- Training/Compliance support: assistance completing and organizing government forms and related documentation
Required Qualifications
- Prior administrative/clerical experience is required (not suitable for someone brand new to the workforce)
- Strong computer skills with MS Office, specifically:
- Microsoft Word (formatting, document creation)
- Microsoft Excel (data entry, basic formulas, organizing spreadsheets)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Professional written and verbal communication
Preferred (Bonus) Qualifications
- Familiarity with logistics, trucking, dispatch, brokerage, or transportation terminology (an asset, not required)
- Exposure to accounting processes or interest in learning accounting tasks
- Experience handling forms, compliance documentation, or regulated paperwork
