The role of a Filling Operator is to fill the approved customer ordered product into various sized containers and assist in proper storage until product is ready for shipment. The tasks vary dependent upon batch size and container to fill. An Operator generally works/fills independently but can sometimes be asked to participate in filling with a partner/team.

    MAJOR TASKS PERFORMED BY THIS POSITION
    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - (PERFORMED BY INCUMBENT HIMSELF/HERSELF AS OPPOSED TO THOSE FUNCTIONS PERFORMED THROUGH SUBORDINATES. THESE FUNCTIONS SHOULD REPRESENT THOSE THAT MUST BE ACCOMPLISHED BY THE INCUMBENT ONLY.)
 

• Operate Filling Lines; includes set up and runs of quart and gallon labeler, tape
• machine, bailer and domino jet printer, print and apply, prism printer
• Operate pail and drum/tote lines includes set up and run of labeler, lidders domino jet printer and languth

• Operate small batch filling equipment which includes set up and runs of crandall, nupac catalyst thinner filler and pail fillers 39, 40 and 45
• Fill various size containers, accurately & efficiently, safely with quality as our #1 objective
• Print labels, carton stickers, maintain good housekeeping
• Operate tow motor & lift trucks

• Taking samples of product while filling for QC testing and retains
• Record yield on batch ticket, initial and submit to supervisor

• Operate scissor lifts, filling machines and floor scales in a safe manner
• Filling of large & small batches as required

• Manually clean all associated parts related to breakdown and assembly of filling equipment and maintain cleanliness of area
• Read and execute written filling instructions (work instructions) and follow specific procedures related to customer specifications
• Maintains log sheets for daily entries
• Collaborate with filling and other operators in order to expedite priority batches for shipment
• Follow all EH&S regulations and guidelines
• Actively participate in SMART and other safety programs

• Report maintenance requirements immediately to your supervisor
• Take out garbage and empty waste containers at the end of each shift
• Using mass meter for solvent to put in wash solvent to clean mixers when job is complete

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms
• The employee is occasionally required to climb stairs or balance; and stoop, kneel, twist, crouch or crawl
• The employee must have the ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus 
• Must be able to communicate orally and in writing
• Must have good reading and listening skills

• Verification of information on batch tickets

• Work with Production Scheduler/personnel to ensure batch tickets reflect processing practices
• Perform inventories of packaging materials: labels, cartons, bottles, cans, glue, tape, stretch film, ink, etc
• Work independently or as part of a team
• Perform and participate in general housekeeping activities (per shift) or larger projects
• Perform all requirements pertaining to Batch Tracking functions
• Operate forklift to gather/deliver materials
• Labelling containers of various sizes
• Attend shift meetings and communication meetings when scheduled
