Materials Planner
Job Description
Brief Description
This role is responsible for the timely delivery of raw materials and components to support plant production activities.
Responsibilities:
- Effectively communicates with 3rd parties to ensure best interests of the business are met when securing raw materials
- Interacts with trucking companies to ensure pick up requests are issued
- Maintains and supplies relevant KPI and other reporting data
- Interacts daily with Scheduler to ensure planning functions are in line with demand
- Interacts with Receiving Dept to confirm raw material deliveries
- Understands how material planning supports on time deliveries
- Monitors inventory levels to ensure minimum stock levels are maintained and ensures slow moving/ obsolete inventory is addressed in a timely manner.
- Understands the financial impact of excess stock levels on working capital.
- Active member of annual physical inventory team
Job Requirements
- University degree or College diploma-preferred Operations / Supply Chain Management or equivalent
- 5 years’ experience in MRP driven manufacturing setting
- Sound understanding of MRP systems; preferred SAP A1
- Strong computer skills. High level MS Excel required
- Knowledge of purchasing terminology is an asset
