Production Operator
Job Description
Position Summary
We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Production Operator to join our Rebar and Service Centre operations. This role involves the handling, cutting, bending, and processing of rebar products, along with general service centre duties to support customer orders and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will have experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment, with strong attention to detail and a commitment to workplace safety.
Key Responsibilities
Rebar Processing
- Operate equipment for cutting, bending, and shaping rebar according to job specifications.
- Read and interpret bar lists, tags, and work orders.
- Tag, bundle, and prepare finished rebar for shipping or storage.
Material Handling & Service Centre Duties
- Load and unload materials using cranes, forklifts, or other material-handling equipment.
- Assist with receiving, organizing, and staging raw materials.
- Package and label finished products for delivery.
- Maintain accurate production and inventory records.
Quality & Safety
- Inspect materials and finished products for defects or compliance issues.
- Follow all safety policies and wear appropriate PPE.
- Keep the work area clean, organized, and free from hazards.
Customer & Team Interaction
- Work closely with supervisors, dispatch, and shipping staff to meet production schedules.
- Assist with customer pick-ups or service requests as required.
- Provide general support to other service centre functions as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in a manufacturing, construction, or industrial environment preferred.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, bar lists, and work orders.
- Forklift or overhead crane experience (certification an asset).
- Physically able to lift heavy materials and work on your feet for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Team-oriented with good communication skills.
Working Conditions
- Industrial manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and heavy materials.
- PPE required and provided.
- May require overtime or shift flexibility to meet customer demands.
