Job Description
As a Project Manager in the custom construction industry, you will oversee, complete and manage all aspects of construction projects, from initiation to completion, regardless of the task. Your primary objective will be to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards while meeting client expectations. This role requires a hands-on approach, as you will need to complete both big-picture strategic planning and smaller, more tactical tasks such as coordinating subcontractors, reviewing blueprints, and even occasionally sweeping the floor to ensure a clean and safe work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning and Coordination:
- Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
- Coordinate with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure all project requirements are clearly understood and met.
- Conduct regular meetings to review project progress, address issues, and adjust plans as necessary.
- Prepare detailed project budgets and track expenses throughout the project lifecycle.
- Monitor costs, identify cost-saving opportunities, and ensure adherence to budget constraints.
- Negotiate contracts with vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing.
- Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Ensure adequate staffing levels and resources are available to meet project requirements.
- Resolve resource conflicts and allocate resources effectively to optimize project efficiency.
- Perform hands-on tasks.
- Implement quality control measures to ensure workmanship and materials meet industry standards and client expectations.
- Conduct regular inspections and quality audits to identify and address any issues promptly.
- Work closely with subcontractors and suppliers to maintain quality standards throughout the project.
- Perform hands-on corrections when needed.
- Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize project disruptions.
- Proactively address any issues or obstacles that may arise during the construction process.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing regular updates on project progress and addressing any concerns or inquiries.
- Manage client expectations and ensure their satisfaction with the final deliverables.
- Solicit feedback from clients throughout the project lifecycle to identify areas for improvement and enhance future project outcomes.
Qualifications:
- Degree/Diploma in construction management, engineering, architecture, or a related field.
- Proven experience in project management within the custom construction industry, with a track record of successfully delivering projects on time and within budget.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools, such as Microsoft Project.
- Knowledge of building codes, regulations, and construction best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Project management certification (e.g., PMP) is a plus.
- This is an in-office position. You will be required to work from our office location to effectively collaborate with project teams, coordinate with stakeholders, and oversee project progress.
- The position may require occasional travel to project sites and client meetings.
- Flexibility in working hours may be necessary to accommodate project requirements and deadlines.
