Job Description

Role Overview:

Reporting to the Head QA Manager, the QA specialist is a self-starter who takes initiative, displays problem-solving and decision-making abilities, has excellent organizational skills, and can maintain a positive, professional attitude in a fast-paced and changing work environment. The Quality Specialist is responsible for duties across all labs as well as participate in activities and projects related to the Quality Management System. Serves as a subject matter expert in quality management system.

Your Tasks:
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, policies, and procedures for all workers performing tasks in the Quality department.
  • Supports the daily operation of food preservative labs.
  • Supports the labs in conducting non-daily tests and tasks.
  • Coordinate and lead internal audits; complete and/or follow up on CAPAs.
  • Oversee equipment IQ/OQ/PQ, calibration and external lab qualification.
  • Oversee the environmental monitoring program, and other QMS-related programs.
  • Maintain complaint and nonconformance processing through records and tracking systems, including root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Identify training needs and take action to ensure companywide compliance.
  • Develop and execute Kaizen/5S initiatives.
  • Takes on other duties as assigned by the Head QA Manager.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Microbiology, Food Science, Chemistry, Biology or related fields.
  • 2 to 3 years of Quality Assurance/Quality Control experience in food manufacturing environment preferred.
  • GMP, HACCP, & Internal audit training is an asset.
  • Experienced in Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • SAP experience is an asset.
